Yes, you will receive engineered, stamped, plans for the structure. We can also include a basic foundation design. Your local building department will require a few other items from you, like a site plan to show where you want to put the building. If you decide you want to add electricity, water, interior walls, etc., that would not be included with the Cold Form package, but we can help you find local sources for those drawings.

For smaller buildings, in certain flood plain areas, these plans can be supplemented with regional flood plain advice, to determine the right and safe size footings, scour depth, etc.

Your local building department can typically provide a quick flood plain analysis letter that gives an idea of what they will require.

This answer is the same for all types of construction on your property. It depends on a number of factors: where are you building; how big; is it commercial property or residential property; how elaborate is your build out? The first step, is play with the designer, and get an idea of what you really want.

Our Polar White, Bone White and Snow White roof panels are independently certified to provide several features that help with energy savings via solar reflectance and thermal emissivity.

Many of our other roof colors also have impressive SRIs.

The other factor to consider is where to put your thermal break. Many builders choose to do a layer of R-10 or R-19 faced insulation between their panels and the steel frame. This helps to improve the thermal break between the exterior and interior of the building, plus helps to reduce roof noise.

Orion can include include insulation in your steel package.

The construction plans will include QR codes to take you to videos, tips and tricks, and other resources to show you how people, just like you, are installing these buildings every day.

Stamped cold formed plans and calculations are typically available in a few days. Custom designs may take up to 10 days.

Once approved, the steel package can typically deliver in about 2-3 weeks.

Most Orion buildings are fabricated right here in Arizona! Some special items or customizations may come from out of state, but those freight costs will be included.

Yes, freight is included to your delivery address. We price the freight assuming that a normal, 50’ long flat bed trailer will be able to get to your address (and back out again), with enough room to maneuver. Have a tight site, winding road, steep incline or other concerns? Let us know, and we can look at other transport options.

Cold formed metal buildings are designed to be bolted and screwed together. Plus, the components are lighter weight than classic red iron, making handling on the jobsite much easier. Buildings under 14’ tall and 30’ wide can usually be assembled with these primary tools:

• Tape measure

• Framing square

• Marking chalk or pens

• Level

• Screw gun with magnetic bit holder

• Impact gun with magnetic nut drivers

• Angle grinder

• Tin snips

• Vise-Grips (Locking Pliers)

Personal protective equipment is always recommended when doing construction or handling steel, so don’t forget your gloves, safety glasses and other items.

We begin with a top level review of the design looking for things like:

• Is the correct building code being used?

• Do we need to add snow loads?

• What is the use for this building? Should we add some collateral loads for interior build out?

• Can we tweak anything to make the design easier to build or more efficient

• Will they be adding interior finishes? Should we increase the deflections?

• Can this design be built? 3-D Designers are amazing, but we need to be sure we can build it.

Don’t like the standard “PBR” style panels? We can offer several other profiles.

Want to install your wall panel horizontally for a more modern look? We can provide the design and material adjustments for that.

Prefer to beat the heat and upgrade to Insulated Metal Panels with a stucco finish? No problem.

Need to put some point loads on the roof for an air conditioner? Sure thing.

The standard fee excludes the equipment and man power to unload the building. This is a service that can be added for an extra fee, just let us know!
